McGregor Supply has been in business since 1957. It is still owned and operated by the McGregor family and is one of the best-respected names in the dry-cleaning industry. We are dedicated to providing you with quality service and products at competitive prices.
We are a Full Line Distributor, which means you benefit from our ability to be your single source for all your needs. "One call does it all."
HISTORY
In 1957 Norman and Nellie McGregor started the supply business in their home in South Gate, California with the office in their dining room, warehouse in their garage and used their station wagon for a delivery truck. Norman had been involved in the industry many years prior; mainly selling and building ELCO equipment for E.L. Chrisman Company.
When McGregor Supply started, business was done with a handshake. Norman's first purchase of a 55 gallon drum of perchoroethylene was done with the sales manager of Stauffer Chemical, Al Folsum. Norman told Al he had no money to buy the drum, but he would return with money once he sold it. Al called his supervisor and told him if Norman did not come back with the money, he would pay for it himself. The okay was given and a drum of perc was rolled up in the back of the station wagon. Norman went out and sold it and returned to Al with the money the same day.
In 1958, with the help of his oldest son Norman, Jr. as driver and warehouseman, Norman and Nellie moved the business into a small commercial building. Then in 1964, the business was moved to its present location at 8181 State St. in South Gate.
During the early 60's Norman's second son, Joe, went from part time to full time working with his parents. During the 60's McGregor Supply started selling Procter & Gamble products to industrial laundries and later to coin laundries. In 1968 McGregor Supply switched from delivering perc in 55 gallon drums to pumping perc into the cleaner's storage tank from a 500 gallon tank that was on their truck. That proved to be far more convenient than wheeling the drum method.
In 1974 Rick, the youngest son, came to work full time. Rick and Joe assumed control of the business in 1979 due to the poor health of their parents. In 1985 a 5000 square foot building was added to the existing building and the business has seen a steady growth through the years.

If your needs should change unexpectedly, delivery is only a phone call away!
DELIVERY
McGregor Supply services most of Southern California with our delivery trucks servicing each customer once every two weeks.
PRODUCTS
McGregor Supply is a full line distributor, which means we carry everything a cleaner would need to operate their shop. We stock a complete line of name brand quality products. Our computerized inventory system guarantees product when you need it.
McGregor Supply distributes perc 100% by the Carefill system. The Carefill System is a 20 gallon drum that has a closed-loop system, which prevents vapors from escaping into the environment and prevents spills from getting into the ground. At present McGregor Supply is the only distributor in Southern California that offers this safe system in the delivery of perc.
FUTURE
McGregor Supply is looking forward with continued success. Even though the nature of the business seems to change each year with changes in customers, regulations and products, the McGregors have always strived to put family values first. We are honest and fair. The third generation is already very involved in the business with Joe's son Joel in sales, and Rick's son Richard in the warehouse.
